I'm not a good example for anyone, as I skip the cleaning part and just lube, scrub and lube 😅
But after years of chain lube, I've never found a better one than the Silkolene. It's not pretty, as it "paints" your chain white, and it's not the cheapest. But it does the job very well and has good resistance to water. Good for rain riders. 🙂
A tip for newbies... lube your chain after riding as it adheres better to the chain. 😉

I've been using a scotoiler since 2014 on mine, that oil is designed to fling and take the dirt off with it.
Have to say it works well.

Or just go for a ride to “warm” it up; definitly a great tip.
I give mine a thorough clan a couple of times a year depending on conditions and use. I place an old sleeping bag doubled up under the bike, because the de-greasing agent gets everywhere and ruins the drive. Lift the rear and use plenty of de greaser, cleaning with multiple brushes, drying before applying chain lube. I quite enjoy dong it but go through loads of disposable gloves in the process as they are the only gloves that seam to keep my hands fairly clean.

I can't imagine myself doing that every two weeks, all year! 😅
