Hi,

Can someone recommend a bike (2023 CBR)?

I want to do basic maintenance (chain adjustment, oil), and I'm on a budget.

Paddock stands are fairly inexpensive, quick to employ, and quite useful for maintenance work without getting in the way. Prices range around $80 to $150 CAD each (front and rear) for decent quality. You could start with just the rear stand. That's used the most by far. Check FortNine and Amazon and you'll find lots to choose from.

Rear stand to start (as JRinKtown @JRinKtown said), add a front when you have the money and you’ll be good for quite a while.

I will add you do get what you pay for and being in Canada getting a used PitBull would be a great investment; the PitBull I just put my ‘26 KTM 990 RC R on has been used on 25+ bikes over 35+ years of use. Still looks and works great, still trust it to be strong enough for me to sit on the bike while it’s on stands.

i really wish there was a way to put bobbins in the swing arm though, had some that go onto the axle bolts, but then they are useless when you need to get the back wheel off.

I find the 'L" shaped support type that lifts from the underside of the swingarm to be easy to use and doesn't interfere with wheel removal.

I do have one of these already, but would prefer to use Bobbins as i feel it holds the bike more securely. I did fit the axle bobbins as mentioned above, but as you cant use them when removing the rear wheel i gave up on the idea, its a minor quibble,

Looks like you’re covered, but one for the future depending on your budget, an abba stand is great.

You can get the standard unit on which will lift the rear, and an attachment that will lift the front.
