    Stained paint?

Odd one. Having just sold the CBR, the new owner took the Bagster tank cover off and found the tank discoloured. I'd not taken the cover off since I put it on 11 months ago (it was NOT easy to put the straps in place!) so it was a bit of a surprise to me! Has any one seen anything like this...

    Completed CBR650F 2018

Selling my 2018 CBR650F as I've had it for a year now and it's still in good condition! Managed to add 24k miles to the original 1000 so definitely time for someone else to take it on. Loads of extras and easy to ride in pretty much every road condition Matt black, LED headlights, 25,000 miles...

    CBR650F ABS flashing

Sorry to resurrect a thread but curious what mileage you had on the bike at the time? Mine was waiting to go in for its 24k service when the rear wheel bearings failed. Probably took a few days to go but I'd just put a new top box on and, as its been so windy, I thought that was the problem! The...

    Dazzled riding in the dark

Have you tried adjusting the headlight beam down? I was flashed by oncoming traffic loads of times, and could barely see the verges, before I tried the down adjustment. After that, found I could see where the road was and it stopped the flashers ;) The adjuster is pretty fiddly to access but...

    CB650R Rust

Hmm, remind me to dust off the time machine later, pop back and get some pictures and bring them back to prove a point Or not Boys, I really don't care what you do or don't believe

What is it about criticising the quality of boys pipes that seems to annoy them so much?

    CB650R Rust

Yup. Admittedly I always try and avoid the first day of heavy snow to let things settle properly but sometimes you get caught. Had a grand chat with some fellow bikers as we all got caught in a blizzard on the M1 and ended up stopping at the services for an hour until it calmed down a bit...

    CB650R Rust

Always amazes me when people talk about Honda build quality as if it's a thing (also how many people insist I must have been mistaken when I point out how badly my own bike deteriorated. Maybe it was the 35k miles in a year, including riding in snow, that did it?). Pretty sure that reputation...

    CB650R Rust

Could just be my natural cynicism, fuelled by watching my VFR rapidly disintegrating, by dint of extensive use over a 12 month period. All those tight fitting panels revealed many a horror whenever they came off  So far, the CBR appears to be surviving better but I do have a full system...

    CB650R Rust

Easy. Check the writing on the bike, if it says 'Honda', then it's the cheapest version  There's a reason people swap out the originals! The old VFR exhaust collector was famously made of cheese and the more recent models are worse from the headers down (had a 1998 and a 2015 version -...

All 650Rs CBR650R engine idle speed from cold

Never had a big V-twin then? Manufacturers advice, don't let it sit and idle, just get on and ride! The CBR does sit at high idle unusually long compared to any other bike I've owned (including a 2016 VFR). I do the 'gloves on' thing but it would carry on for ages if I let it. It fades...

    Bridgestone BT-023 tires

Having really liked the BT023s on several previous bikes, I had them fitted to my CBR. They are still ok in terms of wet and dry grip and longevity but I have to say, I don't think the profile really suits the bike. They make fast turns feel a bit clunky and take a bit more work when it comes to...

All 650's Left Hand Switchgear Frustration!

Just in case you don't get used to it, the CBR1000RR 2011-2013 switch fits with some playing around to align the wires (same plug, different destination for each wire)

    CBR650F Clutchless gear changes

Unfortunately, it wasn't me at the garage. The only thing said was 'it's an engine bolt, she was doing a Pedrosa'! Will find out more on my next trip there (two bikes, there'll always be a next trip!) In the meantime, the rear brake on my Superduke faded into non-working mode in the heat last...
