All 650's What did you do with your 650 today?

Today I took my 2019 CBR650R on track! My first ever and it was great fun. Didn’t think to take a better photo at the time, but here’s one I snapped near the end after clocking up 93 track miles. Circuit was Knockhill in Scotland. Also here’s one of the OEM tyres, which have covered 6k miles...

    CBR650R Bike doesn't start sometimes

Thanks @Brammers, prompted me to find this post for info on that (and found it in the owner’s manual too 👍). Attempted that procedure next morning, but it was a flat battery in the end. Would spending 20-min trying to start the bike drain battery? Regardless, poor battery care over a couple of...

    CBR650R Bike doesn't start sometimes

Thought you had the answer to my problem when I read about the HISS. But unfortunately not. Very strange experience - bike started fine, after a very short ride I shut off the engine using the side stand when in gear (unintentional, I was in a bit of a rush). Anyway, came back to the bike 1-min...

    CBR650R Ticking noise!

Thanks guys, appreciate the quick responses! I'll take the fairings off to listen and feel carefully for any leakages. It does seem more pronounced near the headers, so I'll start there and work back. Worth noting this is the loudest it's ever been, but it's clearly there and noticeable at...

    CBR650R Ticking noise!

@adammatheww I've got the same bike and recently fitted a Black Widow full system (this one). Did 4.5k miles with stock exhaust and never heard anything like this, so I'm convinced it's the new one. I'm getting the ECU reflashed on 5-May and hope that will fix the problem, so will let you...

    All 650's Adjusting gear lever

I'm sure you know the answer by now (noting your question was from May 2019!), but I just did mine today and I have a 2019 CBR650R with a quickshifter (thanks @Brammers for the excellent guide!). For anyone doing this for the first time, you may find the connecting rod tough to twist. Mine...

    CB650R Rear foot pegs removed

I did the same at first (also have a CBR), then realised four of the black screws from the OEM tail fit perfectly.

CB650R Honda OEM Rear Seat Cowl

I added a seat cowl to my CBR and yes, you get a bit more space. This is because the cowl is hollow inside and bit higher than the seat, pretty much as you can imagine by comparing a pillion seat and seat cowl side-by-side.

Comment by 'User31' in item 'De graphiced CBR650R'

Looks really nice with graphics removed! Agree with @LB2020 that it looks more like a Ducati and quite retro (good thing!). How did you remove the stock muffler and can you post a sound clip? I’ve got the same bike and also removed rear pegs - planning to replace OE bolts with some black round...

    CB650R Evotech Performance Tail Tidy

Emailed Evotech suggesting they offer a decent discount that I could share with this group. Got one (valid for 7 days), but not as big as I’d hoped! It’s for £9.16, which is 10% off the net price. Takes it down to £99. (£101.94 with 2-3 day shipping.) 5SZQCFHXKT6P I’ll ask for a bit more!

    CB650R Evotech Performance Tail Tidy

Looks gorgeous! Could you post an update once you’ve done some wet rides? This is the best tail tidy I’ve seen, but after EnglishBikerDan switched from R&G back to stock (and some other reports), it’s making me hesitate. I live in Edinburgh, so wet rides aren’t uncommon...

    All 650's Quad lock cbr650r

I bought the RAM stem mount in the end. Pics and more details here: https://650f.bike/threads/phone-mount.1611/#post-19721

    CBR650R Phone mount

After so much deliberation I finally decided on the stem mount from RAM, with the short arm and x-grip. Bought all items separately but you can also buy a kit. My two main reasons for the stem mount: 1. Didn’t want the hassle of changing cases like the quad lock requires, and I wouldn’t want...

CBR650R Yesterday ordered my new bike

What was your shitty experience with the D214s? I have them and they respond well in the dry; I trust them fully and push the bike hard and it’s all good. However, I am so much more cautious in the wet because of what I’ve read! Curious to hear your story. P.s. If you have the seat cowl by now...

    Cleaning our rides.

Here’s a video I found useful, and it supports most of the comments on this thread. There’s another one I found (much longer), but I haven’t watched it.

    CBR650R Vibrations

If you’re still having issues, maybe speak to your dealer? I’ve done 330 miles, commuting 3 days/wk 45 mins (each way), and spend 20-25 mins in 6th at about 6k RPM. So far no noticeable vibrations and a really smooth ride. Presumably you’ve reached 600m service by now? Can’t see any reason why...

    All 650's Quad lock cbr650r

Photos would be great if you could post some? Really struggling to decide which phone mount is best. Front runner was RAM-B-176-A-UN10U until I read your post. I’m also put off by the quad lock mounting system. Does the phone need to be in a special case or do you stick the receiver onto an...

    CB650R CBR650R Headlights

Engine running, lights on (dipped beam), front indicators off and not acting as running lights. Maybe there’s a setting for it, but this is how mine came from the garage.

    CB650R CBR650R Headlights

Good clarification, thanks! This is definitely new to the UK and I think it’s a great safety enhancement. Yes, road users’ attention is drawn to orange lights because it indicates turning, but that means they’ll have more chance of seeing you because their senses will be heightened. IMO any...
