All 650's Cable Repair Kit?

While out on a group ride last weekend one of the riders had their Clutch cable snap. Stranding him until the AA could recover him. as a result I was thinking of buying the Oxford Cable Repair Kit? I was wondering if anyone has experience of these, or if there are better alternatives out there?
Did have a look for an existing thread on this, but couldn't find one.

I’ve heard of people buying them but never heard of them using it. I would think it could be helpful in an emergency.
