I installed flush mount LED turn signals on my 2019 CBR650R. This setup will work for 2018-2020 model years and may work for similar models and other model years. I mounted the rear lights to a tail tidy I purchased from an Australian shop called Mustard Bikes (link below). The flasher relay that TST sells did not work correctly with this setup. I found a relay that worked from Custom LED (https://www.customled.com/) see below for the link.

Parts List:
Front Signals

TST Turn Signal Mount Adapter Kit - PSA-1001 - Plate Kit 2 (This is the Yamaha Kit but it fits)

TST Signal Plug Converters for Honda - CVH02 - HARNESS CONFIG: 2-2

Relay
ELFR-1 Electronic LED Flasher Relay with OEM Connector

Optional:
Mustard Bikes Tail Tidy - MUS_FEN_HON_CB65R_19_MIN
https://www.mustardbikes.com.au/cb650r-cbr650r-19-20-tail-tidy

Installation Notes:
  1. To determine if you need 2 wire or 3 wire adapter cables, start your bike and if the front turn signals are lit solid when the bike is running, then you have 3 wire turn signals. Keep in mind that this modification will disable the running lights, so if you want running lights, you will need to find front LED signals with three wires.
  2. Remove the seat and fuel tank to access the relays. Then remove the plastic cover over the relays. The flasher relay is the one closest to the rear of the motorcycle.
  3. The cables are very short for the rear signals so you may need to extend them. Use 22 AWG stranded wire and snap wire connectors or solder the wire and heat shrink the connection to insulate it.
  4. If your bike has three wires for the front signals, use the CVH01 converter cables and move the yellow wire to the bottom pin slot of the connector. That moves the 12V wire to the signal light wire on the bike’s wiring harness. The original position will engage the running light and the light will not flash.
  5. To mount the front signals, use the more rounded adapter plates and flip them over so the bump sits in the recess of the fairing. If the light sits too flush for your liking, you can use the rubber spacers that came with the light to raise it up a bit. I cut the spacer in half and used half a spacer on each side to get the height I wanted.

Excelent guide! One thing I will add when deciding what connectors you need dont judge wheter you have running lighs or not. Physically remove the side fairings and eyeball thoses connectors.

I have a Euro CBR650R '21 with NO running lights, yet it comes with the three pin adapters but only two wires going into them. Its as if they assembeled the bikes from the spare parts bin :/

I had to order 2 pin connectors to marry it all up. silly mistake on my part.

Also I beleive you can keep the running lights if you purchase the TST runnning mate item..

The TST Running Mate adapter for the front signals will enable two wire LED signals to act as running lights but your bike needs to have three wires in the front signal connector for it to work. If you only have two wires in the front signal connector you could wire a 12V source to the running mate or add the third pin to the front signal connector.

Nice! I can also confirm the TST running mate works perfect for keeping the oem running lights function when installing 2 wire turn signals (need 3 wire for running light).

It’s weird that the flasher relay from TST didn’t work to fix your hyper flash. Are you sure you got the right one? It’s for sure designed for our bike, mine works as intended.

I have to get my hands on those front signal spacers. My very similar lights off eBay didn’t come with. Mine are too flush and not very visible from the front. Maybe I can find like a piece of rubber or foam to McGyver in there. First ride of the season last week. The Mivv pipe with no restrictions is insane!! I love it.

I had a thread started about the right flasher relay needed but nobody responded. My OEM flasher relay (21' CBR650R europe) has 8 pins was yours the same? I ordered a european relay from TST but it was a 4 pin one and did not look like it would fit so I was annoyed I did not check that first.

However I was told by a "mechanic" afterwards that the bike is all LED's so i would not need to replace the relay due to low power consumption. So I'm a bit confused about the whole process now. Can you clarify any of the above with your own expirience?

Thanks!

8 pins 🤯. I have no idea why the euro spec would have any need for that. Are you sure you pulled the correct relay? If it is 8, maybe someone else can shed some light. I used the TST 2 pin gen 2 relay. The oem for USA/can is 3 pin, but the TST YouTube video (link below) explains the 3rd pin is just a ground, and they designed their relay to work without it. He also explains why there is hyper flash when oem is already LED. My aftermarket upgrades absolutely did hyper flash before relay install. Honestly it’s not even that fast, I almost left it alone. He simply says the oem is designed in such a way that it still draws slightly more current than aftermarket. Not really an explanation 😅, more of a “that’s just the way it is”. Regardless, props to TST, their demo videos and explanations are unequalled.

Take a look at the pictures and tell me :) I'm sure this is the relay. When I pulled it I'm sure I tested my indicators and they dident work..
