honestly, dot sure I understand what do you mean as "total beginner". Does it mean no experience with such bikes apart of school?
If so, based on my experience I would go first with naked bike. Like CB650R or less power, but naked.

As a new owner of CB650R 2019, I'm thinking about spools also. First bike I have that does not have main stand... so no real experience with spools and related stands.
Key motivation for me is keeping bike straight during long time storage (winter) and chain maintenance/washing.
