All 650Rs After market tail light not super bright

Hi all,

I just fitted one of them aftermarket tail lights, simply because I liked it being a single strip of LEDs rather than the stock looking like a christmas tree, I didn't really care about it being smoked but the other red or clear had a weird pattern for the stop light.

Long story short, fitted looks great, but the light compared to the OEM is crap, it's not bad but not as bright.



Now a couple of questions:
- Is this a dumb idea? I don't want to risk someone run me over cause my stop light is not extra bright.
- is it even MOT (uk) pass? Or do I need to put the original each time.
- any other solutions / ideas?

Being seen, especially from the rear, should be your first priority. If you think it looks dim, then it looks dim to others who aren't motorcycle people.

Yeah, absolutely agree. I might open both up and test the led intensity with no shroud, maybe I can interchange the trasparent part or buy a clear one. I shall report on findings for future.

I saw that online and looks like what I wanted, however US only? This one came from aliexpress, really cheap, its not that bad for the price, but yeah not the brightest.

There needs to be a clear distinction between the rear light intensity and that of the brake light; it's no good having a super bright rear light if the brake light isn't clearly visible.
