In the interest of promoting this site over the old one, I'm transferring some info from a thread on the old forum since it will benefit others and the topic was raised on my ride page.

First up, original handlebars. Mirrors are fit to adapters which replace the bar ends.20150525_125258.jpg

Second, for immediate comparison. The renthal ultra low bars. Mirrors are now fit on the end of the handlebar since I've positioned everything where I want it.

Thirdly, some side by side shots of the handlebars with tape measure for size reference.

Fiddly to fit. If you do, you need to drill them out with a 5.5mm drill bit for the locating pins on the throttle clamp and clutch clamp. Allow 3 hours +- half an hour depending on experience. As you can see the renthal are lower and have slightly more rake. Personally I found it a great improvement, particularly since all peripherals are where I want them but also aesthetically. Full lock has not been hindered at all and it does not touch the tank with the increased rake.

The cables can be easily managed with some thin cable ties so all looks neat, I may take some photos and add them here for benefit of others to see. The pipe coming from the brake reservoir is the main driving factor behind the angle of the handlebars since you need this to be level to display the level correctly.

I've since moved the mirrors back above the grips because they stick far out making filtering more awkward, old pics too the bikes had a lot done since those.

Take a look at some huge bar manufacturers, like Pro Taper, website and see what's all available and the different dimensions they have. Then search around a bit or do it yourself and find the dimensions of the handlebar currently in the bike and go from there. You can use dirt or street bars but in general know the dirt bars have less sweep back and up so they in general are more straight feeling than street bars.

Before changing to a bar going too much lower or sweeping too far back, be sure you know what will fit and not hit the tank at full lock by turning your handlebars side to side and checking clearance of what you have. Then if you do buy something, install it loosely and check again before drilling holes or mounting it tight so you can still swap if needed. Also make sure your angle is correct before drilling the locating pin holes for the switchgear.

Ask me how many bars I thought would either fit various bikes or have switch gear holes in the wrong spot are hanging in my garage........

I know I had a bitch of a time getting bars for my NC700X that I liked. I wanted a more "aggressive", sporty, almost dirt bike feel and when I finally found the bars that fit that perfect the switches hit the tank. I ended up buying a bar and some 3/4" risers to get it close to what I wanted but had issues with vibration after the swap as the antivibration bar ends don't fit aftermarket bars (something else to consider) so I went back to stock and traded it in on the 650F.

Good luck!!!

Neatly brought together with 3 thin cable ties, a little slack in them for safe measure

The pipe coming from the brake reservoir will be a driving factor in how you angle your bars. Since this needs to be able to flow freely and ultimately be level to display a correct reading, you'll also need to factor in the mirrors you use in terms of the distance this is fixed from the end of the bar.

As I'm sure you can see, you can understand why it's a fiddly mod. But as I've said, since this is where all the hand controls are its nice to set them exactly where you like.

Off topic, but since you mentioned red accents aaronlukemarshall aaron, here's something I did last night.

They're KOSO unlimited, matte black indicators. Managed to get x4 for £82 inc. delivery so call it £20 each minimum. Pricey, but high quality.

Appreciate your work and information!

I am going the opposite direction, making the bars higher and farther back (toward the rider).

I used 2" Rox adjustable risers.

All cables and wires were long enough to accomplish this with minor rerouting. Still feeling some pressure on wrist so I am going to try (perhaps Renthal High Bars) WITH the Rox risers. May have to have some new cables and brake line made.

Love what you’ve don Daniel, is it possible for me to have my bar end mirrors mounted like you have them? Is there some sort of adapter that I can buy or did you make them yourself? If you did buy them could you point me in the direction of where from. Please and thank you

Yes of course, these are the mirror extenders I bought:
https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/eBayISAPI.dll/141639805220?_mwBanner=1

And these are the bar end adapters I bought:
https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/crg-billet-internal-adapter-for-crg-bar-end-mirror

Fit mirror extenders where oem mirrors go. The adapter, I cut the piece that fits into the handlebar off completely and made a straight through hole, then fit this to the mirror extender and attached the mirror to it. A bit difficult to explain, but from my pictures of the cables I hope you can see and understand what I mean.

No problem, stick pictures up when done would like to see how you got on. Helps with the variety too on changing the bars on the CB.

Thanks for that Daniel, I take it that if I’m going to be cutting the piece off it won’t matter which one I get? Either the 1” or the 7/8”?

Correct, if you are fitting the way I have and cutting them as you say.

Check the mirror can clamp the adapters tightly first before you cut though.
