Hey guys my 2023 cbr650r arrives soon and I'm wondering:

1. does it sound a lot quieter because it's lams
2. if I put a full exhaust system on and use a power commander will it work properly with the restricted airflow and will it sound good.
3. If I destrict the bike myself and just do a ecu flash and power commander map will it still ride properly without a dyno tune I would dyno tune it eventually but where I live no one has a motorbike dyno tune so I would have to send it away on a truck and get it trucked back ($$$$)

I just installed a Yoshimura exhaust system with no tune and it runs really good compared with the stock exhaust system. I’ll probably do a tune once I install a K&N filter. But anyway it runs great with the exhaust system.

wow, nice bro looks killer is your bike LAMS? If so, do you notice an increase in power with the new exhaust system on and does it sound really loud with the full exhaust system even known the bike is restricted in the air intake?

...I've been riding a 2023 CBR650RA since March and rev the heck out of it.
Probably not a popular opinion but I'm happy with the stock exhaust because it sounds sweet at 12 grand and does not alert the LEOs.
BTW this is my main ride, have no car/truck, just bikes. Raced Pro for 16 years, 2-wheel junkie.

Assuming Jacko Ripp @Jacko Ripp and wisemx @wisemx are both from the U.S., they do not have a LAMS-restricted version of the bike like you do, just to take into consideration.

1. The stock exhaust does a great job at muffling the sound, even in the full-power version. I have not heard an A2/LAMS model CB(R)650 in person to compare noise levels objectively, but I don't imagine there being much of a db difference at similar RPM levels between the two bikes.
2. A full exhaust upgrade while still retaining the same restricted intake funnels, would not require an ECU flash or Power Commander as mandatory for it to still ride properly. With so many options available, whether it will sound good or not is very subjective.
3. An ECU flash and adding a power commander are two separate and differing ways of tuning a bike. You wouldn't normally do both. In your case, if planing to de-restrict the bike to full-power spec by swapping the intake funnels, you must flash the ECU accordingly. A piggy-back solution like a Power Commander would not work in this scenario to get the bike to full-power spec because there are other limiting factors in the LAMS' ECU programming and check-codes that cannot be overcome by a piggy-back solution like a Power Commander. Legality aside, you can remove the ECU from your bike and simply mail the ECU by itself off to a vendor who provides the service of flashing it to a stock full-powered bike. While dyno tuning does offer the best customized mapping for an individual bike, it is not absolutely mandatory if all you are doing is upgrading your funnels and de-restricting the bike. You would need it flashed though for de-restriction purposes.

Bear in mind though, that doing this de-restriction with ECU modification will almost certainly void any warranty you would have from Honda that came with the bike - even if all you are doing is bringing the bike to stock power levels available in other markets.

This has been covered a bit here on this site in the past, so have a search around and I'm sure you'll find more useful information from others who underwent your situation. Good luck! :)
