Hello, first post new member
i have been looking for a solution for the non existing spool threads on our bikes, most solutions are just not good or plain stupid, the only solution i can find that make sense is from Chinese manufacturers has anyone managed to find a better solution other than the one attached? and what is your opinion on the matter, would you trust a Chinese manufacturer part on your bike?
as of now this is the only thing i can think of.

I was looking for new spools as well, but I found only those Chinese chain adjusters and nothing else
Hopefully some good brand will make them soon.
I’m still holding back on buying them.

otherwise there are the non adjustable from r&g

I really like the look of those....just don't like the price. If you get them, let us know what you think.

I recently ordered the T-Rex racing spool adapters. I will post pictures once I get them installed. These are terribly ugly and a bit expensive but seem to be completely practical and functional. I tried the rear paddock non-spool stand and I just didn't feel confident in its stability.

The combined chain tensioner/paddock stand unit arrived today. It is well made but there a couple of things to be wary of. First there are 2 spacers on the bolts that are used to secure the unit to the bike where the adjusting screws are located (until you take them out that is). These spacers are actually for the bobbins. This now leads me to the next thing to be careful of. The bolts that use a hex drive to attach the bobbins to the unit are too long but acceptable on the RHS and too long but not acceptable on the LHS. I screwed and tightened it on the LHS but the bolt went through the unit and damaged the black surround that is on the wheel before the sprocket. You need to put a nut on it from the adjusting bolt that you removed then cut down the bolt by around 10mm, then unscrew the nut that you put on it so that it will clean up the thread that may have been damaged by cutting it down. Hope that makes sense.

I used blue locktite on the bolts for the bobbins to prevent them coming of whilst riding.

I tried using the paddock stand with the bobbins but couldn't raise the bike and I was too afraid of it falling on it's side so I've gone back to using the modified paddock stand arms that I made which lift the bike under the swing arm.CBR chain tensioner.JPG

Looks good, can you explain why you couldn't raise the bike using the bobbins? was it because you didn't trust it enough or there's something wrong with these things.

I didn't like raising it with the bobbins not because I don't think it would work but compared to my other solution, raising directly on the swing arm, using the bobbins seem to be a lot harder and I didn't want it to get to a point where I couldn't control the bike as I was on my own. I was afraid that once I got to the tipping point I'd loose it as I was having to put more force into it. My alternate way would get the bike up easily so I could direct the bike onto the stand. It is probably the stand I'm using as it is a cheapy that I got from Torpedo 7 in 2014.

In short, the bobbins on this solution are strong enough to lift the bike. I just didn't want to risk it.

If you go for anything like this that is available in different colours, my recommendation is to go for the silver or the black because even though the other colours may suit your bike's colour scheme, colours like red fade rather quickly and then they look crap. I personally wanted red but I had a compound bow with red cams and it soon looked shocking.

Reviving an old thread here…anyone have good or bad experiences to share on these chain adjuster / swing arm spools combo? Has the anodizing held up? Are the measurement indicators precise, clearly legible, and stay that way over time? Fitment? Seems like the same product on every site, eBay, Amazon, but best price is on AliExpress. It’s all different sellers, but am I correct in assuming they’re all made in the same factory and are of the same quality? Inexpensive doesn’t always mean it’s junk. Not convinced an accessory like this is worth paying up for a brand name.

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! C$55.96 21% Off | waase For Honda CB650R CBR650R CB CBR 650R 2019 2020 2021 2022 Left and Right Chain Adjusters with Spool Tensioners Catena https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtvC4Iw
