Hey guys,

I just installed the tail tidy I picked up from Amazon for $56 CAD made by Xitomer and just wanted to fill you guys in.

it came packaged well with a small hardware pack. The bracket itself is powder coated 1/8” steel the same as the brand names that sell for 4x the cost. The fit is good, not perfect but all the holes line up. A couple bends are off by a tiny bit but when you tighten down the hardware it fits itself perfectly. I reused the OEM hardware because it’s black and the new stuff is chrome plated. I’ve installed brand name ones on a few buddies bikes and honestly it the same.

the only real negative is the wires for the new license plate light that comes with is 24awg and the Butt connectors that come are garbage. The factory wires are 18awg so I stripped them back and soldered them. I’m not a big fan of wire as fine as 24awg in a Butt connector.

Install took about 1 hour and basic hand tools. You will need a metric set of Allen keys (8 and 5.5 I believe), a metric socket set or wrenches, a pair of wire cutters and crimpers (or solder and a soldering iron if you go the route I did.

the only wires that require cutting and splicing are for the new license plate light, the turn signals just get unplugged under the seat.

Hope this saves some people some money.

The lp light wires soldered and shrink wrapped under the seat

The connectors for the lights. Orange is left rear turn signal, light blue is the lp light and blue is the right rear.

all done but the cleanup. It makes the bike look much better without the giant whale tale hanging off the back.

I have the Yoshimura one coming at ~$100 more than this one. I saw this one on Amazon and wasn't sure it would be too flimsy. Now I'm thinking about ordering this and returning the Yoshi and saving a few bucks.....Any thoughts?

Don't mind spending a little more for a quality part, but if I can get the same performance without paying a brand-name premium, I'm all for it! I did read on some of the Amazon reviews that the only complaint was the cheap license plate light and wiring, you think it will hold up for you?

i have the yosh one. the install itself sounds the same, except the yosh maybe has a little bit thicker wire. i would order the amazon one too and then return one after comparing in person...the yosh one has a VERY bright LED plate light.

anything is better than the OEM fender 😆

Agree on the OEM, thing is awful! Only thing I don't like about the bike in stock form.

I bought the same one the weekend I brought the bike home. It's super basic, but works as designed. I can't imagine paying more for name brand one. My only minor gripe is the LED license plate light. It's angled wrong and while it lights up the plate the LEDs are actually facing nearly directly at the rear traffic. its so bright that it basically prevents anyone behind you from actually reading the plate numbers. I'm actually a little concerned that it could be cause for a police stop, but so far no issues. I just wish the lights were recessed in the housing or that it had some type of shield for the LED's.

just be aware that the more expensive ones are mostly aluminum or alloy, not steel. Chinese steel does not survive well in the outdoors, especially of you live in a climate that is wet. It will rust from the inside out. First sign will be paint bubbling...

good point. can confirm the yosh bracket is all alum except for the hardware. as in most other things, you tend to get what you pay for...

It is steel but powder coated not painted so durability should be okay but time will tell. For the cost I can replace it a few times and still be in the black. Also, the origin of the steel doesn’t determine how fast it will rust, the makeup of the alloy will.

And the quality of the paint/powder coat......

Absolutely. I’m not saying it is the same as the brand name models but saying it is good quality and a great budget alternative for those who A) don’t care about having brand name things and B) don’t want to spend $200-$300 on a tail tidy and we’re considering the $50 alternative.

I picked up one on Alibaba, and I'm very pleased with it. It holds the rear turn signals and license plate fine. The light looks sketchy, but for the $25 I spent, I certainly got my money's worth.

I purchased the Avt one off eBay. Fit and finish is great, the led for the plate is angled towards the rear a little too much but overall I like it. Only problem I had was I guess from the vibrations the led turn signals went bad. I contacted them when the first one broke and they sent a replacement. After the second I didn’t bother and replaced both with cheap $10 signals off Amazon. I think the problem is the signals that come with the tail aren’t rubber mounted so they are taking all the vibrations. These were the original signals. EFD444D0-320B-4A5A-9191-1A35C70492E7.jpeg
