All 650Fs Check if bike is restricted / lacking power

I have a 2014 CBR650F

So today I went to the garage (Burwins) for a new rear tyre and for them to check the brakes.

They took the bike for a little test ride to check the brakes and noticed that it didn't have much power.

So the other mechanic had a check and said it felt less / around the same power as his 50HP bike. The odd thing is is that the engine is running well with all cylinders.

So they wondered if it was restricted. It's my first big bike so hadn't really noticed the lack of power. Does anyone know how to check if it's restricted and what I should do about this lack of power?

Thanks,
Peter

So I went back to seller and turns out they managed to find in Honda history "Honda 47bhp restrictor kit". They thought it would be the Honda one but just rang a dealer and they said that they didn't do an official Honda one for 2014 model. But since it was applied in 2018 they are wondering if it was the CBR650R version with air valves and ECU reflash or a 3rd party one.

That's poor. They should really have picked up on that, you would expect a dealer to be able to distinguish between a 47bhp bike and circa 90bhp, or at least record which bikes are restricted.

Anyhow, I bought mine in 2014 with a throttle stop so you're in luck with needing info on that. It was supplied by FI International, part number 02-RC75-K35 and marked 'alpha 1227.' Hopefully it isn't an ecu replacement as those can be horrendously expensive.

So are they going to remove it for you free of charge? Keep us posted.

Thanks Daniel where abouts is that fitted is it on the throttle cable somewhere?

They have told me to get some quote from local garages to see how much it will be and they can see what they can do

So that's fitted to the throttle cable mechanism up against the throttle body at the other end. This is all under the tank. I paid £67.50 + VAT at the time I wanted mine removed, £81 in total. Use that as a guide, but they shouldn't be asking for any money off you.

I'd be more firm and ask for it to be removed free of charge, they've ballsed up there, they make sure you have the right license before purchasing the bike anyway, and should have considered restrictions before you committed. Have they verified what kind of restriction it is yet?
