Hi everyone,

I just purchased (in Thailand) GTR front axle sliders for my 2018 CB650F. Here is a link to the product: https://www.zeedparts.com/index.php...0r-cb650r-front-wheel-crash-bung-axle-sliders. The kit does not include a hollow axle bolt to replace the stock one... See in the picture below: I was expecting the kit to contain a bolt such as the one in the red circle (hollowed) to replace the stock one (blue circle).

I am worried that without it the front axle might move... What do you all reckon? Front wheel integrity is fairly important in my view :).

Cheers,

GGN

Not sure what you are suggesting, running it with the bungs and no bolt? No, that’s a VERY bad idea.

Just looking at what you linked shows they think these fit the R and F models (supposedly) which is interesting because the R has an axle bolt used only the 650R series bike so it’s not the same as the F one and the pics I’ve seen show the R one to be hollow.

As with many of the Thailand built parts looks like you’ll have to improvise and get yours drilled out or punt and see if the R bolt fits. Or get different crash bungs.

Hi miweber929 @miweber929, yes, I meant running the bike with the kit on, which does not include the hollow bolt. After installing, I was like "this can't be right" so took it off, because as much as you I thought this was a bad idea. But how come a kit like this can be put on the market if it is that bad? This is insane! I bought rear stand bobbins from GTR, as well as levers, and they are great (perfect fit). So I trusted the brand would do a good job with fork sliders... but I was wrong it seems!

Hi everyone, I just bought a front wheel axle protection from Bikers (https://bikerzbits.co.th/bikers-front-wheel-axle-protection-h0566.html). Before buying I asked for confirmation that the kit was safe to install, and included all the necessary parts. The person in charge at their support email address confirmed it was safe. Upon receiving the kit, I realized - as in my previous purchase - that the kit did not include the main (hollowed) bolt... So I have asked again to Bikers (through their facebook page) whether they considered it safe and they assure me it is. They have sent the pictures below:166829362_801372730586288_1412475178414030747_n.jpg

They say it is safe because the two M8 bolts hold the main axle in place. But for me the first step of removing the main axle bolt (first picture) and not replacing it with an equivalent torque on the main axle seems very hazardous! What's everyone's opinion here? If not safe, I am livid and feel like an idiot... twice money wasted! Anyone has had experience with Bikers? Interestingly, the link to the actual item I bought has been removed from their website's CB650F's page...

I would not install the axle sliders without a hollow axle nut torque to 59Nm. So I would recommend to buy a hollow axle nut that fit the 8mm slider shaft. Maybe Evotech performance can provide the hollow axle nut! I also saw that some people drilled the oem nut to 8mm (but not sure if that’s a safe method!!) anybody, please feel free to confirm this method.

Just checked the hollow axle nut from Evotech performance, the nut has a 8mm hole. Maybe you can buy this nut separately.

I believe this kit is more approprate, the axle bolt is replaced with a drilled alternative bolt thus maintaining the integrity of the front axle.
TBH, if i was looking to fit these to my machine i would buy an OEM axle bolt and have the holed drilled at a local engineering workshop and not risk my life to some substandard steel bolt.
I would certainly not rely on the two axle retaining bolts for my safety
Just my opinion.

The two 8mm bolts are not holding the torque of the axle, just more of a “safety” item and helps stop the axle from turning.

I would NOT run them on my bike, would not consider this setup safe nor would I buy products from a company that does and instructs you to remove a key component in your front axle system.

An update on this subject after dealing with the company Bikers. I pointed to them that their products was not safe and would like to send it back. I managed to do so (hard work from where I live), and to their credit they refunded the value of the product.

However, all of this could have been avoided if the person on their support team (to whom I had asked about the product prior to purchasing) had shown me a picture of the actual product. He never did, despite me asking specifically about my safety concerns. Not only did he not provide pictures of the actual product, but he was quite arrogant about it, implying that I should know better than ask too many questions...

Well, know better I do now... Never trust an online seller that is not willing to disclose all info on their product. Sounds really basic and I know I was quite naïve, but I did not expect companies like Bikers (which looks quite serious from their website) would put products out on the market that are unsafe. My bad. Now I know and will never do this again.

I was about to buy quite a few parts for my bike and Bikers had a lot of them, so I guess it's their loss.

And to conclude, they did not even have a word of apology to offer. Overall, quite a painful and sad experience!

Wow! For them to say safe without the axle bolt!? Yikes. Those two M8 are there to keep axle from spinning so you can torque the axle bolt, nothing more

Edit: should have read first...just realize I repeated someone above
