I have the cheap one from Amazon and it works just fine. One thing to note though you have to release the clutch every gear shift in order for it to read the gear you are in. For example if you are in 6th Gear and you want to shift down to 3rd it will not show you what gear you are in until you release the clutch.

Hmmm I heard Honda bikes are that way even with Healtec...so maybe it isn't even worth $160 and you may as well get a cheap amazon one in that case. Where does it plug on the 650F? I think under the seat that red 4 port right by the battery right?

Hi.. Does it work on a quick shifter where clutch is not used for both Healtech and Chinese knockoffs?

To the points above, I have an Amazon cheapo, works just fine. You have to be in gear clutch out, because it reads the data from the ECM and reports the gear. It doesn’t know when the clutch is in.

According to the Healtech FAQ, only Suzuki and some Kawasaki have a real gear position indicator. On Honda, the engine must be running and clutch released.

I wouldn't buy a knock off myself because:
1- you're plugging into your ECU
2- it doesn't seem right to fund thieves

I have no plans to get a gear indicator though.
