CBR650R Glove snagged in gap between grip and bar end

Recently picked up a 2024 CBR650R w/ e-clutch. Out riding this morning slowed to a stop at an empty suburban T intersection. Nary a car in sight on a beautiful News Years Day morning. Literally deserted. Needed to regrip and pulled hand off throttle to adjust, little did I realize my glove had snagged in the gap and as I lifted it up the throttle came with it and revved just enough to have me drop the bike. In fifteen years of motorcycling I’ve never had it happen. Was quite a rush at 6am, needless to say I got a couple minor scrapes on the bikes, slider lightly scuffed. Naturally a little miffed at the scuffs but other wise a little embarrassed and surprised. Anyone else had something similar happen or odd causes of drops? I am a little pleased i suppose in that bikes have rarely felt like mine until I’ve marked them in some way.

Bummer!!! Never had that exact thing happen to me, but for sure stupid, weird, unintentional drops or almost drops. The thing I have going for me, though, is I’m 6’3” and 240lbs so MOST of the time I’m able to save the oh-shit moments because I can wrangle it due to my size.

The last moment I had wasn’t a drop but instead something falling on my bike. Bought my ‘17 Ducati Supersport in mid ‘18 new as a left over, summer of ‘19 so it’s not quite a year old I’m in my garage grabbing some stuff from above so I had my small 4’ ladder out. Moved it from the floor to on top of my cycle lift to get it out of my way, turned around and it fell over hitting the front of the bike damaging the headlight and bodywork. Something like $3,000 in damages. Not fun.

But man, I have others over the years…

Ouch 3k has to hurt. Sorry to hear it friend. Fully intend to get a lower side fairing replacement and lower seat cowl/fairing replacement. A few years ago I had a new Vespa standing on grass (stand was resting on a paver). Wife moved it somewhat to get at some weeds and left it on the lawn. A couple hours later it was toppled over against a brick fence with dented aluminium trim and a bent mirror. Worse part was the mirror moved so much it stripped the thread to the point where mirror would move under its own weight when turning lol. Honestly don’t think you could’ve planned a worse fall
