CBR650F I messed up.

I've just fitted a tail tidy too my cbr650f and have somehow managed to knock all the dash off with the exception of the HISS light (which is flashing on and off).

The rear turn signals worked fine for a minute or so but then there was the sound of a short circuit that clicks every time I start the bike.

Bike starts and runs but feels like the fuelling is wrong.

The hell have I done?

Something in your wiring. Check the fuses.

Relax, its a 7.5 fuse you shold have a spare, ask me how i know 😂

Before you replace your fuse, check your wiring for shorts. No sense in replacing the fuse if the cause of the trip is still there.

Good way to burn thru a bunch of fuses......

It was indeed a 7.5 fuse.

Yup, you'll have to find where you have wires pinched or shorted to ground. I'd start taking the tidy off if it were me.

Check your number plate light (the wires) thats the most likely cause.

Ran into the same problem this morning changing the fender for a tail tidy. It ended being just the fuse, I think when I had everything test fit together the pos/neg wires for the plate light touched. But who knows?

Ran by the dealership this afternoon looking for stuff for my atv and told my service guy about it, he laughed and said at least once a month someone comes in after blowing the same fuse on this same project. Said a couple guys actually towed the whole bike in...lol...thank god for this board

I’m no electrical expert by any stretch, and I’ve never taken a close look at how the tail tidy is mounted, but I’d look for a wire pinched against the frame either under a new part or something that got loosened and retightened as part of the install.
