I feel for you guys,
my bike was only leaking a little bit oil behind the water pump. First my dealer checked the oil filter and oil pan, they even checked the front sprocket and ask me what chain lubricant I used and if I not used to much lub! (sometimes if the bike is hot and the chain lub thin, it will leak from the front sprocket to the pump). They really did a thorough job checking every single spot until they swapped the water pump O-ring an later the complete pump with O-ring. I even told them to check for a possible engine case crack (Because of Jamie Franklin’s story) when the bike was still leaking oil after the first O-ring replacement! My dealer told me after they checked the engine casing, that it is almost impossible to have a cracked case by itself (if the bike was not dropped or crashed).

I know how frustrating this problem is! The only advice I can give you guys is, bring the bike back to the dealer and ask them to rule out every other possible oil leakage and let them afterwards replace the complete pump again. I think there is a faulty batch between these pumps from the year 2016 until 2019!

did they gave you a bike to ride while you wait for parts? or is your bike still working with a leak ?, Honda really dropped the ball with these bikes.

So the garage ordered another water pump last week, that would be the 3rd water pump on this bike lets hope it solves the problem.

+1 for the water pump issue.

I noticed a small amount of oil/coolant after every ride hanging under the water cooler.

I went to the dealer and showed them, I also told them I had read about the issue here.

They replaced the water pump under warranty.
At first, the issue seemed to be fixed, but after a few 100 km's I noticed it started leaking a bit again after every ride.

It's not as much as the first time and seems to be only oil this time, so I'm going to wait a bit to see if it gets worse before I bring it back. If it stays like this I will only bring it back after the summer, because the bike works fine and I don't want to spend my vacation without the cbr.

That drop is normal. Anything more (or while the engine is running) is an issue.

J

Do you mean the drop on the second picture? Because the dealer did change the water pump after the first picture and said there was an issue with the pump.

Do you have any idea what causes the drop?

Not that I don't want to believe you, I'm just a bit worried and think it's strange that there's oil there, even after just a 15min ride..

The pump has indeed a weep hole and it is normal that The pump sometimes give a drop of coolant (NOT OIL) a continuous coolant leak from the bleed hole is also not okay. So if your pump is leaking oil from the bleed hole, the inner seal is damage and the pump needs to be replaced! Check and make sure it’s not oil!

Noticed i have the same issue only the other day but also noticed a bolt above it is also leaking, both only leak after a short ride but never continuously leaks overnight. is a very slow leak but a leak it is, getting them looked at in a couple days whether or not they are serious, but just for peace of mind. Only 1500 Miles on bike :/

Damn this is a serious manufacturing fault! Honda needs to make a recall on these bikes

The stupid thing is, that they replace the broken pumps with the exact same crappy pump! So you can only hope the new one holds up. Honda really needs to do something about the pump design/build.

I'll chime in here and say, yes, there is a Honda problem here! And I totally understand your frustrations - I'd be pissed, too!

That said I'd be furious with Honda and would be on the phone constantly with my dealer and/or Honda itself. It'd be one thing if it happened to one or two bikes but this appears to be much more than that! Surprised at Honda for this.

I understand that after your third replacement you are feeling like this!
I'm also a bit disappointed in Honda. Everyone I spoke to in advance told me how reliable they are, but now there is this issue, and apart from that I am still waiting for my quickshifter to arrive (since march) after I waited 7 months for the CBR.

I really love the bike though, and I must say that until now my dealer has given me a very good service and is very helpful, so I really hope there will be a proper solution soon. In the meanwhile I'll just try to stay positive, it's a good thing we all noticed it under warranty.
