Hello all,

So, I have dropped my bike once on its right side, and yesterday my rear tire slipped exiting a gas station and the bike (and I) fell on its left side. On both cases, I suffered from bent shifter/rear brake pedals, plus slightly bent footrests... So my question is: this being extremely common, how could I prevent this from happening again? I have these engine sliders (which protect the engine fairly well, although not fully).

Is there anything I could install to protect the pedals? Maybe something protuding off the rear wheel's axle?

Cheers,

Eloi

If you can find levers with a folding tip, something like racing rearsets, that may help. But honestly OEM are designed to bend a bit to absorb the impacts and dissipate the force so they are doing their job by bending.

Sliders can help the bodywork and frame but your footrests and levers are your lowest point so they will touch on a tip over. Your only safe bet to avoid damage is to not tip over in the first place :)

I've dropped mine before and managed to pull the shifter and rear brake pedal back into place again - I think I managed to do with a piece of wood wrapped in an old tea towel so I didn't mark or scratch anything 😊
