PSA: Check your pillion foot peg mounts for rust, even if you use them / have blanking plates.

I know some use metal blanking plates.
Some have the foot pegs mounted.

Either way, check for rust!

I've had mine mounted for a while, properly tightened. Today I decided to remove them because I won't be using them for a while.
