CB650R Raised footpegs

tldr: Has anyone replaced their pegs with ones higher up? I don't think it'll scrape anything else for a couple more degrees. What did you buy? Did you have any issues?

Context: In the search I found some topics about lowering them but I went to a trackday and managed to scrape them without the feelers on Roadtec 02s and the plan is to get Sportec01RSes or Racetec K3s for next time since I overheated/tore them pretty bad and I'll be needing a new set before the next event in July. 😅

Guess you could use something like this but just turn them 180'. Can usually find them (in google search) with "cb650r foot peg riser" etc.

You can use pegs like FinCB650R @FinCB650R posted or get rearsets which put the entire footpegs/shifter/brake assembly in the right place. Should be some cheapish ones on eBay or Ali. I would caution you, however, that raising the footpegs doesn’t raise the hard parts that scrape next which usually don’t move and will a lot of times put you on the pavement. Rearsets should put your entire foot in a better position, but know this bike only has so much lean angle it’s designed to do. Might also be suspension related dragging if you’re on the heavier side.

I do not mean this in a demeaning manner at all but generally peg scraping means your body position needs addressing which costs nothing but your time and patience. Dragging a knee should be the result of body positioning, not the goal but are you getting to the point your knee could drag? Is your butt hanging halfway off the seat towards the inside with your head where your mirror would be? If not, that’s a good place to start; you might find you don’t need new pegs.

Body position and line still need work but I've got the basics. I scraped with, mediocre form and a perfect line. I was fully committed chasing an instructor and had decided that I'm going to stick to him like glue until we pull off from the group and he has to slow down, no matter what. 😅 I kept up, got a thumbs up and an offer to move to a faster group, but in the last two corners, which are a slight uphill right-left S curve on the right one I scraped it. Didn't get my knee down there since I don't trust myself to do the right-left transition at full speed from way down low without upsetting the bike with my fat cheeks and since I still have issues keeping my hands loose at full hangoff (and that's where over half the crashes that day happened 😅) but I did have a cheek out, chin somewhere around mirror and handlebar level and knee partially out. It was the fastest I went in that entire day so I was mostly focused on milking the line, brakes and throttle, which is kind of the iffy bit. I don't know when it'll scrape yet so I don't know when to just go a tad wide assuming I still feel the grip's there and the grip was there. With stickier tires it'll get worse.

But the real problem is me being 96-97 kilo without gear and stock suspension which I don't want to change because it's going to be a pain in the ass to do it legally. I was considering it but at that point I'll just get a small van and a race bike so I can also crash freely. I'm pretty much trying to buy myself some time and reduce the chance of crashing for this season without having to take it easy, hence the idea to raise the pegs a little and sticky tires. Next season, if I'm still as hyped about track riding, I'll probably just bite the bullet and go the whole way since the CB really isn't made for this and has some sentimental value to me.

I'll probably do what FinCB650R @FinCB650R suggested. Sounds perfect. My shifter is currently adjusted almost all the way down so it should work. Thank you!

Yeah, your weight is going to be over what the bike likes. Being heavier as well I ran an Ohlins shock and a fork spring kit up front setup for my weight and it made a HUGE difference in ground clearance and ride quality. At the time it was "fairly" inexpensive but has since gone up quite a bit.

Sounds like your body position is in the ballpark. I always thought I was a good, fast rider until I started doing track days and always dragged my pegs. I've told the story here before but I had an '01 CBR929RR and dragged pegs at Road America to the point I not only knocked the feelers off I ground the actual peg down. Had an instructor pull me aside and go over body positioning I use still to this day and suddenly stopped dragging hard parts, got WAY faster and even more importantly far safer.
