HUDs in helmets is long overdue, however integrated visor, LCD are not new, it’s the helmet safety laws due to internal factors of helmets which are stopping development.

I'll very likely buy into this tech once it has matured...hopefully they have integrated it (at least to the same degree as a Sena unit), fixed any/most bugs, and also lowered the price. For now, the combination of Sena, iPhone (Siri), and Zumo works pretty well/nicely.

This seems as enticing to me as the iWatch. (That would be nil). What am I missing here?
I think more information and convenience for those who want it.

A lot about riding is making sacrifices. Giving up certain things you can on 4 wheels but not 2.

This gives a little of that back.

I get the point about getting stuff back, and I agree with the concept. I'm still murky on what my $700 adds that I don't already have. If I mounted my iPhone on the tank I could have nav (Waze), BT audio (voice and music). The only thing missing is a handlebar mounted controller that I would have take my eyes off the road to actually use (and no brick hanging off the front of my helmet). This doesn't seem like a win to me, just another distraction.

Still open to ideas if I am missing something?

I don't think you're missing anything. You just have an opinion that it's "not quite there yet".

And I agree.

With my Sena + RAM mount, I have far more functionality. But this is a step towards some cool new stuff that will likely improve over time.

As some one that Chooses to not have stuff when riding, I like this thing. It's useful and open to abuse or distraction, as any device is.

The review was spot on about not having full interoperability, if the blutooth coms thing is the norm.

So far I get by with memory, as I have done since the early 90's but, a HUD GPS is a dead sexy option.

Not that I'm buying one. I do not even have a cheap phone interface because people can leave me alone when i'm riding

I guess I´ll never get this.
Why do you need to answer your phone or listen to music while riding?
Those are signs you are bored.....if riding bores you - stop right there!
Seriously, what´s next? Browsing the web for a nice pasta recipe or watching youtube videos on your bike?
Having some real time video conversation with someone?
Only usefull part imo is the navigation thing. But therefore a simple nav will do.
But 700$ and that ugly control unit and horrible head unit - no way!

Same with cars today.
Just watch the ads 20 years ago and now.
Instead of look at that nice engine and that perfect handling it´s just connectivity here, multimedia there, 18474832" screen here, message reader there......
Just focus on driving and be happy you get away from that stuff - at least for a while.

Not for everyone.

I have a wife & 3 kids. Answering their calls is more important than riding any day.

Not that they bug me... They don't... But if my cell rings while riding, and it's one of them, I'll answer it.

Also, not every ride requires the same level of focus. If I'm enjoying a straight stretch of country road, a quick chat on the phone is no big deal.

I used to listen to music while riding.
I had to have i loud to hear it over the wind noise, so it affected my hearing.
When I got to the interesting bits I tuned out the music. back in the day it was not as easy to get to the devise to pause and such so if the good bit and a good song came up at the same time, the song lost out.
