Hey i have seen a thread for the f model but was unsure whether or not id need a speedo healer if i changed my setup or if the process was the same.

I was thinking i might go 14 44 if it's to short ill go 15 on the front instead.

Just wanted some opinions.

I don't have a healer installed, but final drive wise the f and r are identical, so the other thread is still current.

You'll need to fit a healer for sure with those teeth counts!

Slightly off topic but related, what's everyone's experience with changing from 525 to 520 series. Bike is parked for winter but will have to replace chain and both sprockets before spring. I'm thinking 520 but don't want to be replacing a season later.

All the $ for 1% gain?

Cheaper to buy the 2019-2020 oil dipstick, remove some oil. I think you remove 800ml. Weight is now reduced.

or a lighter lithium battery.

I need to replace regardless so no extra out of my wallet. Thanks for the 'technical' input.

Swapping to a 520 set will save a little unsprung weight, sure. Will you notice it - doubtful unless timing yourself on a track.

The lighter weight of the chain may also wear quicker... Not sure on your annual mileage so don't know if this will be a factor for you or not.

Did list their 520 chain as a valid part for the 650, so either will work.

I chose to stick with 525 for the extra durability.

Your $, your bike, your call.

Cheers, J. Input I was looking for. I'm 11k on the original 525 chain and sprockets, ride ~ 3k a season. Chain has 3 bad links, sprockets need replacing. I don't track (wish I could). I have until March to pull the trigger. I'm sure priorities will have changed by then.

A 520 will work great on the bike, be sure to get one rated for a 600cc bike, and will be cheaper to boot.

I see it as a win/win.

Like others have said, a 520 will work well on the 650 and will be cheaper than 525. Changing your gearing to 14/44 will have a noticeable impact on your speedo, so you'll need a speedo healer. The one I use is the one Brammers linked above. It installs in a hard to get to area, but you should be able to get it done without too much trouble. If you have a teenaged kid or neighbor or friend, you should ask for some help for that hard to reach part. I was able to get a large flat screwdriver to provide enough assistance for me. Once installed, it's very easy to get calibrated.

My 650f has 14/43 sprockets. You'll notice better performance because the engine will be turning slightly faster for any given speed. I didn't notice any real change in top speed because the bike doesn't have enough umph to get my fat butt up to it's theoretical top speed anyway. If you're a smaller guy, you might have different results.

OK, I can assist here as I did it on mine...2018 CB650F. You do not need a speedo healer. If you have a ABS that is. If you do not have ABS then you will need it.

Please explain how the Abs thing is relevant?

The speed sensor is on the final drive output shaft. Changing the final drive ratio will affect the speedo.

Does anybody know if dropping one tooth on the front and leaving the rear will impact a bike with a PCV fitted? Will it need remapping?

No, not at all. Gearing will not affect fuel tuning.
Sorry miweber929 @miweber929 another stupid question for you please, I can’t seem to find the answer in the sprocket threads, not sure I’m even asking on the right thread🤦🏻‍♂️
With just a -1 front, and stock rear, will I get away with keeping stock chain and just re-tensioning?
