Hi Everybody,

I'm hearing a strange clicking sound coming from the engine when I open the throttle, with the engine at operational temperature. The sound is very very similar to what you hear from the front brake switch, or one could also compare it with a louder mouse click. So, I can hear it with the bike on it's side-stand, engine running and I slowly open the throttle.... after a couple hundred RPMs above idle I will hear one click .... I also can hear it while I pull away from a redlight...so basically in any situation when I open the throttle....

Anybody else having/hearing the same?

Cheers,
Attila

Have you listened to any videos of the PAIR clacking? Similar to that?

You need some nice aftermarket exhaust for the bike if this is making you paranoid.

PAIR, place rubber band around key, check for windscreen screen rubber mounts, check horn mount,

I’ve ruled out all possible sources. It’s not a crackling noise, it’s nice clean click, exactly like the one you hear from the brake switch and it’s only one when I open the throttle.

It is only one click, when I open throttle and the RPMs go above a certain limit, then “silence”. If I close the throttle and open it again, another click.

There seem to be an identical report from A cb650f owner. Post title:

Mystery click noise around 2500 revs

So, the click seems to come from the PAIR solenoid.

If anybody else hears it on his cb650r, drop a message here.

Hello friends. I recently discovered the cause of the engine noise. After removing the head the cause of the noise was discovered. A failure in the timing chain mechanism caused the chain to damage the engine block while causing irreparable damage to the engine. Just want to point out that the motorcycle is only 23K and was only serviced at the dealer garage20210828_225409.jpg20210828_225732 (2).jpg

This can't be the same noise as described by me. My click is an electronic one(relay noise), 99% caused by the PAIR valve. Nevertheless, thanks for sharing. It's very strange to have such damage after 23K :(

Hey! I have the same noise - know exactly what you mean. I wouldn't worry, it's the PAIR valve solenoid being annoying.

1) Doesn't do it when it's cold, as cat needs to be up to temp for it to start being stupid.
2) Doesn't do it above certain speeds (or maybe I just can't hear it)....

Can confirm will do it when it's just been run and sitting on idle, click noise comes from where the PAIR valve is. All is good here.

Hi,
I have the same exact sound on my bike, exactly as you describe it. My bike have already 27000km.

I know its been a while since this thread is started, but have you manage to solve this mysterious sound :D ?
