Hi there... so I’ve been looking for frame sliders for my CBR650R for awhile now. I found Evotech Performance sliders but they won’t be available anywhere until next year from what I’ve heard. On top of that, all the frame sliders I’ve come across (from SW Motech to Puig to Shogun) don’t fit my bike, according to most online stores where you can check bike compatibility. So... for those of you who recently bought frame sliders for your CBR650R, or have “tricks of the trade” for getting quality frame sliders for this bike, PLEASE let me know what I need to do to get SOME kind of frame protection. Thank you!

So do you have a CBR650R or a CB650F? Your profile shows a ‘15 CB650F but you’re asking about the CBR650R, I just want to be clear.

Unfortunately you are stuck in a high demand, low inventory time frame and will be waiting for parts to come back into stock. Try eBay, Amazon or even see what your local shop can order. Revzilla and Cycle Gear are high volume resellers which may have the best idea of what’s in stock as well.

What’s the hope for the sliders, to stop tip over damage or “Slide” protection? Maybe look into GB engine case covers, they may be easier to get. Just a thought, good luck!!!

Hey, sorry for the confusion. I recently bought a 2020 CBR650R. This is the bike I’m asking about. My main goal is to stop the kind of damage I would get from having to put the bike down when it’s going 10, 15 mph in a parking lot or something (during practice sessions). Frame sliders protect against that kind of damage right? Would it make sense to buy both the sliders and the engine case, or are you just recommending the engine case because sliders are hard to find?
Sorry to bombard you with questions 😅 Thank you for your help!

I recently installed the T Rex Racing frame sliders, a bit bulky but they serve very well the purpose. and they are in stock.

T-Rex Racing Honda CB650R / CBR650F / CBR650R No Cut Frame Sliders (t-rex-racing.com)

I do recommend the engine case guards since you are looking for some kind of extra protection.
I saw these! Do you recommend them? Are they a “first-choice” kind of frame slider or do people just buy them as a last resort? Also, what kind of damage do these protect against? I’m guessing it won’t protect the engine much? Thanks for the reply 👊

not sure what would be for people first or last choice, I can say they are solid. Another thing to consider, these are 2 mounting points, which is better.
as the name suggests, these are frame sliders. it will help a bit to protect the engine, but it will still be exposed. check my post in this thread

if you want to protect the engine as well, then engine case guards are the best protection.

I think a combination of both is the best protection you can get, they help each other preventing putting too much pressure just on one point, and it will keep the bike a bit more further away from the ground.

Wow, sorry about the bike. Important thing is that you walked away learning something :)

Funny thing is, after replying to you earlier today I dropped my bike for the first time doing low speed practice runs in a parking lot. Engine and the fairing under it slightly scratched.

The T Rex frame sliders are on their way in the mail and I’ll be looking into engine case guards. Thanks for your advice!!

Practice always comes with a cost, as long as we don't get hurt obviously. Hopefully you're ok.

Sorry for the bike, but it can be fixed, here the paint for the case

Honda Pyrite Brown (YR-325M)

Glad you decided to pick the sliders, it will help protect the bike a lot, also your leg in case it gets stuck (lets hope not).
Even better if you look into engine case guards.

I have the Evotech sliders and like them, though yeah I had to wait a bit for stock. Thankfully I have yet to test them :D

I also have Evotech. Super happy with the look and quality. Hope I'll never use them as a crashpad :)

Now this is really interesting, I have engine Guards (R&G chuffed with them!) but am considering sliders. The single post ones seem a disaster waiting to happen and other than the Evotech ones mentioned above there seem to be very few options. But the Evotech ones are ugly (in my opinion), going to stick with the guards only for the time being, I think. I am worried about the Tank if she goes over though? any thoughts?

Hey Stevieg123, can you tell me what model these frame sliders are? Can't find any R&Gs that look like this. This is the only one I can find, and they're kinda ugly.
Damn - I am not sure !! 🤔🥴
Send picture of mine to R&G - i am
Sure they will be able to ID

Has anyone "tested" these sliders from Amazon?

I wouldn’t try them, the single mounting point on the frame and the 2 smaller on the engine case makes me worry of bad damages in case of a slide
I went from rizoma (single mounting) to t-Rex (2 mountings) bc I felt better on having a sturdier support for the sliders
