Looked at it more closely. It is definitely a design flaw. The bit (#1) for closing the visor is angled such that pulling down on it, ends up push the visor...

I have the same problem with my stem mount. no matter how much I tighten the mount screw, it still rotates. I think I'm going to just take some super glue to it and see what happens. I dont plan on removing it any time soon
that could actually be more of a reason for you to not want blinking lights.
other road users are used to seeing those blinking lights, and immediately associating them with large, slow moving vehicles.
